Here at C-Square, we are very excited to announce that the multi-screen cinema complex that was announced last year is full steam ahead! Still on track within the originally anticipated 12-18 month timeframe, Majestic Cinemas will soon be offering more than 150 movie screenings a week across four cinemas, with construction due to start 6 October and finish in time for Christmas.
The large auditorium will become one large cinema and two smaller ones, while retaining all the technical capabilities to deliver live events in the large theatre, just with much more comfortable seats! The existing cinema will operate throughout the redevelopment, and of course retain the live event capabilities that have always been there.
C-Square and Majestic Cinemas have been working closely with Mills Gorman Architects to develop a multi-screen complex that will deliver a superior cinema experience for patrons, and local building company RCQ Construction have been appointed to undertake the multi-million dollar refurbishment project. LGIS, our project management company, have also completed major projects on the Coast, so our redevelopment is in good hands.
Majestic Cinema’s CEO Kieren Dell has been through a similar process before. ‘Having managed a cinema refurbishment in another regional town, we are confident that we can continue to provide a great cinema experience while the transformation takes place. Ultimately, the winners will be the public, with a wider selection of block-busters, new releases and limited release films on offer, as well as live events.’
C-Square Director, John Sorrentino explains that challenging problems had to be solved in the design process. ‘The original building was never designed to support the infrastructure needed for a modern cinema experience. We’ve gone back to the drawing board a few times now to make sure we get it right.’
C-Square’s General Manager, Tracy Martin, has already seen a change in confidence that this refurbishment brings. ‘Switch Espresso Bar will be joining C-Square shortly, adding to the choice of dining options for patrons, while the newly constructed Soundhouse is adding to the entertainment vibe as a performance space to showcase local talent.’
On completion, the four cinemas will offer Nambour locals a great variety of movies as well as live entertainment options which will continue to contribute to the cultural life of Nambour.
Disruption to visitors and tenants at C-Square will be kept to a minimum during the refurbishment, with movies continuing to screen every day.
